With reference to my letter dated the 14th of Novr last, I am directed by the Earl of Kimberley to transmit to You for the consideration of Earl Granville, a copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hongkong respecting the case of James Reddie, who was sent to that Colony from Shanghai as a Lunatic, under a warrant from the Chief Judge of the Supreme Court of China and Japan. I am also to enclose a copy of a report on the subject by the Acting Attorney General of Hongkong, and a statement of the expenditure which has been incurred on account of Reddie by the Govt of Hong Kong.
